Draper Announces Artemis Award on the Blue Origin National Team

CAMBRIDGE, MA—Today the Blue Origin National Team, which includes Lockheed Martin, Draper, Boeing, Astrobotic and Honeybee Robotics, was selected by NASA to develop a sustainable human landing system for the Artemis V Moon mission.

As a key partner on Blue Origin’s National Team, Draper will be leveraging its multi-decade expertise and experience in flight avionics and guidance, navigation and control for the program. Draper’s contributions to the National Team are built upon a strong legacy of work with NASA originating with development of the Apollo guidance computer.

“As a member of Blue Origin’s National Team, Draper is proud to support the advancement of human exploration and discovery through the Artemis program. We are pleased with NASA’s decision, and we look forward to serving on a team that will develop a human landing system for the Artemis program and achieve sustained presence on the Moon,” said Alan Campbell, senior program manager of Space Systems at Draper.

NASA says the goal of the human landing system is to take astronauts to and from Gateway in lunar orbit to the surface and back to the lunar space station as part of the agency’s return to the Moon for science, exploration and inspiration.

Draper is a team member on several missions to space, including the Moon, the asteroid belt, Mars and deep space. Today Draper contributes to NASA’s Artemis program, including Gateway, Orion, Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) and the Space Launch System (SLS), and develops technologies for human spaceflight, space exploration and commercial missions to low earth orbit and beyond.
